ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 12 (PNA) -– The police have
readied a security plan to be implemented Wednesday in time for the
installation of the new archbishop of this city.
This was announced during Monday’s press
conference at City Hall by local police’ Spokesman Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca
citing the police force will be place on full alert status for the event.
Huesca said that there will be also a rerouting
of traffic leading to the Metropolitan Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral situated
along the corner of La Purisima and Campaner Streets, where the installation
ceremonies will be held.
To be installed Wednesday as the new archbishop
of this city is Bishop Romulo Dela Cruz, who was appointed last March 15 by
Pope Francis.
Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar announced in
the same press conference that Papal Nuncio Guiseppe Pinto, the Apostolic
Nunciature to the Philippines, will lead the installation of Dela Cruz.
Archdiocese of Zamboanga Administrator
Monsigñor Crisologo Manongas earlier said that top Church leaders from the
other parts of the country are expected to arrive to attend the installation
ceremonies for Dela Cruz.
Huesca said he could not discuss in details the
security plan except in saying the local police force will be augmented by
policemen from the national support units and the Police Regional Office-9
headquarters.
He said that portion of La
Purisima and Campaner Streets will be off-limit to public utility vehicles
during the installation ceremonies, which is the whole morning of Wednesday.
