Abdusakur A. Tan II, son of incumbent Sulu Governor Abdusakur M. Tan was proclaimed Governor -elect of the province of Sulu around 7:30 pm today by the Comelec provincial board of canvassers. Totoh Tan as he is fondly called by his Supporters, will succeed the elder Tan, who was also proclaimed and will assume the post of Vice-Governor of the province of sulu. The father and son tandem already surpassed the 144,000 votes threshold needed out of the 249,289 registered voters in the province, prompting Comelec to effect their proclamation with 30 percent of the votes still to be counted.
Incumbent Sulu Gov. Abdusakur M. Tan
thanked supporters who trooped to the Comelec Office at the Capitol to witness
their proclamation, Governor-elect Abdusakur A. Tan II expressed his
sincere gratitude to the trust and confidence given to him by the populace. The
tandem defeated aspirants Tongkil Mayor Abdulwahid Sahidullah and
Masihul Kadra for Governor, and Muammar Tulawie for Vice-governor.
Proclaimed winner to
a third term in Congress is incumbent Representative of the 1st
district of Sulu, Habib Tupay Loong winning against Tarhata Misuari and former
assemblyman Allvarez Isnaji. Maryam Arbison, wife of former second
district Congressman Munir Arbison, clinched the Second
district congressional seat defeating incumbent second district
representative Nur-Ana Sahidullah.
Comelec also proclaimed Assemblyman
for the 1st regional district of ARMM, Nedra Burahan, Ben Tulawie and Rizal
Tingkahan Jr. Members of the Sangguniang Lalawigan, 1st Provincial
District, IZQUIERDO, BUTCH, TULAWIE, HANIBAL, SUHURI,
ISMUN LATIP, BURAHAN, BASARON and LOONG, ABUBAKAR JR..
Proclamation of
winners Assemblyman for the 2ndregional district of ARMM and Members
of the Sangguniang Lalawigan, 2nd Provincial District were deferred
pending the canvassing of the remaining election returns, majority of
which comes from the 2nd district of the Province. All
proclaimed Candidates are members of the Liberal
Party.
