ZAMBOANGA CITY - Shooting
incident transpired at national highway of Sitio Dauca, Barangay Nonoyan,
Baliguian,Zamboanga del Norte may 6,2013.
Initial investigation conducted by responding police personnel
disclosed that while the group of incumbent SB member candidate Edgar
Vertudazo, 40 years old, Filipino, married together with Narciso Vertudazo, 38
years old, Filipino, married, Roger
Vertudazo Jr, 23 years old, Filipino, single and James Elago, 28 years old,
Filipino, married all residents of Barangay Poblacion of said place with two (2)
motorcycles were travelling bound to Barangay San Jose of same place.
Upon reaching at the
place of incident two (2) unidentified person waylaid them and without apparent reason drew a handgun Pistol caliber
.45 and fired the two (2) motorcycles
driven by Narciso Vertudazo with back rider James Elago and the motorcycle
driven by Roger Vertudazo Jr with back rider Hon SB Member Edgar Vertudazo who
was following from behind but failed to hit the said motorcycles but the motorcycle
driven by Narciso Vertudazo fell to the ground about 50 meters away from place
of incident..
Edgar Vertudazo immediately reported
the said incident to the Commander of Special Forces Company, PA situated at Barangay
Nonoyan of said municipality which is 2 kilometers away from the place of and
responded to the incident.
Both Narciso Vertudazo and James Elago
sustained minor injuries at the left and right knee and treated at Siocon
Emergency Hospital.
Recovered from the crime scene were two (2)
empty shells of caliber .45 and temporarily
deposited at Baliguian MPS prior submission to crime laboratory for further
investigation.
Said station now conducting follow-up
investigation for possible identification and arrest of the suspect/s and to
determine the motive. ( with report by R9 PIO).
