JOLO, Sulu – Despite of  the closed implementation of the Comelec gun ban shooting incidents still occurred in Kakuyagan  Village of Patikul in this province today  that resulted to the death of Cpl. Timhar Abdukasim of the Phil. Army and wounding Msgt. Datu Andan Duran of the Phil. Airforce by unidentified  perpetrators onboard a motorcycle.

Police said Duran was rush to Zamboanga City for medication.

P/SSupt. Antonio J. Freyra, PNP provincial director, immediately dispatched his men after he received the reports about the incident to trap the perpetrators. However, the killers had fled before operatives arrive in the scene.

“We are not taking for granted about this incident because we are implementing the gun ban order, “said Freyra.

Meanwhile, the two kidnap victims were released last May 6 by their abductors in Barangay Tanum, Patikul.

The two walked to the nearest house and rode a tricycle going to the office of Engineer Abubakar and reported that no ransom was paid to the abductors.

Renato Yanga, owner of coffee shop in Jolo, is still in the hands of his abductors, said Freyra.
