CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan De Oro City, Oct. 19 (PNA) -- A joint military and police anti-illegal drug operation has discovered and uprooted a marijuana plantation in Agusan del Sur province, valued at PHP13.7 million, the military reported Wednesday.
Spokesperson
of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division here, Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez, said the
two marijuana plantation sites were spotted in the village of Kasapa in Loreto,
Agusan del Sur last Saturday.
He
said the team uprooted a total of 29,000 fully grown marijuana plants from the
first site and 26,100 plants from the second site.
The
training equipped the military with the tools to apprehend and conduct an
anti-illegal drug operation, in cooperation with the police and other
anti-illegal drug law enforcement agencies, Martinez said.
He
said Maj. Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr., commander of the 4th Infantry Division,
congratulated the joint military and police operation for their big
achievement, considering the value of the seized marijuana, which could have
possibly destroyed thousands of innocent lives. (PNA)
