TUGUEGARAO
CITY, Oct 22 (PNA) -- The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2,
during Saturday’s briefing with Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, estimated agriculture
losses due super typhoon Lawin at Php 6.1 billion.
The
secretary conducted aerial inspection to determine the extent of the
devastation caused by Typhoon Lawin in Cagayan, Isàbela including the nearby
province of Kalinga.
The
DA briefer stated that from the P6,194,819,000.00 total losses, crops loss was
at P6,129,970,000.00.
Meanwhile,
livestock and poultry damage was placed at Php3,699,000.00; irrigation
infrastructure of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) at
Php13,150,000.00 while other infra facilities of DA at Php48 million.
Meanwhile,
the DA Region 2 is proposing the total amount of Php1,016,149,000.00 for
rehabilitation and intervention by the national government.
A big
part of the proposed rehab fund would go to the rice sector, placed at Php741
million. This will fund the purchase of 215 units of 36HP tractors, palay
seeds, both hybrid and certified, and soil ameliorants.
For
the corn sector, the DA needs Php129.7 million for the purhase of more than 20
thousand bags of hybrid corn seeds
