Dimaporos call a stop to vote-buying

SND, Lanao del Norte -  Congressman-elect Abdullah Dimaporo appealed to all politicians and the voting public to put a stop to illegal poll activities particularly vote-buying. The call was made during the “kandori” or thanksgiving ceremony of the Dimaporos at Brgy. Poblacion, Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND) on May 18, 2013.
The call was made in response to the massive vote-buying observed in some coastal towns of the province.

“Despite the massive vote-buying conducted by our opponents, we are happy that the people gave great importance to the good public service and leadership we provided the province through the years and because of this Team Dimaporo won convincingly in the last election”, Dimaporo expressed.

In his speech, Dimaporo blamed vote-buying as one of the main cause of corruption and hinders genuine progress in any community.

Early in the campaign, Team Dimaporo has consistently called for a clean and honest election during their political rallies in different towns of Lanao del Norte.
“So many hurtful personal attacks were hurled against us. My family became the victim of black propaganda. Yet, in spite of this our loyal supporters who know the truth continue to stand with us and gave us another overwhelming victory”, Rep. Imelda Dimaporo said.

Meanwhile, the provincial government will have a new Vice-Governor in CristyAtay who will replace Irma Umpa-Ali who served for three terms from 2004 to 2013. Vice-Governor Ali is a well-loved public icon and a staunch advocate for women’s right and quality education.

The thanksgiving program was hosted by SND mayor Ulwan Dimaporo who was also re-elected for his second term.
More than three thousand family members and supporters attended the “kandori” by Team Dimaporo under the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
